Obituary for Annie Seal Collins
Annie Seal Collins, 103, died November 27, 2019.
Annie Seal Collins was born June 1, 1916 to the late Henry and Lucy Ford Hudson in Holly Springs, MS. She departed this life on November 27, 2019.
She confessed a hope in Christ at a very young age at the Graves CME Church in Holly Springs , MS. She later attended St. James AME church in North Memphis.
Annie had two children, Sarah Frances Jackson who preceded her in death, and Joseph Greer Jr.
Annie was married to Cleveland Collins who preceded her in death.
In 1949, Annie and Cleveland move to Memphis, TN. She worked and retired from Seabrook Paper and Wall Company many years ago.
Annie was “the” caretaker of her family. In their ailing health and age she took care of her grandmother who lived to be 109 years old, her mother and father, her daughter, aunts, uncles and cousins! She made numerous trips from Memphis to Holly Springs and never complained about helping them. She also opens her home for stay to many relatives and friends while they were going through their hardships.
“MotherDear” as we called her was an avid cook. She was one of the best cooks we ever known. Her baked chicken tasted like fried chicken; her vegetable lasagna was so good you thought you were eating meat! She brewed her tea in pickle jar on her back porch and we all knew not to mess with her brew! She started in October baking her homemade cakes and pies for the holiday. She baked and ate a sweet potatoes’ everyday with her dinner! She was still feisty at 103 years and will be missed,
Her memories and legacy will be, cherish to all.
She leaves her son, Joseph Greer Jr and 11 grandchildren, Larry Greer her caretaker, Millicent (Richard) Neal, Jerry Miller, Jarvis (Mary) Greer; Teresa McNeal, Jeffrey Jackson, Yolanda (LaDon) Tucker, Terry Greer, Angie Greer, Melvin S. Jackson and Bryon Greer; 3 grandson preceded her in death. 18 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends which includes her special cousin Curtis James Talley and friend Stacey Schingle and Cassandra Fay.
