Obituary for Odessa Powell Williams
Odessa Williams, 77, died July 3, 2019.
Odessa Powell Williams was born May 13, 1942 in Memphis, TN to the late Miles Lucius Powell and Lucy Harris Powell. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Pleasant Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.M. Brown. She later joined St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church.
Odessa attended Manassas High School. She retired from Memphis Jewish Home.
Odessa departed this life on July 3, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital Park Avenue. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Yolanda and Claudia Williams.
Odessa was known for giving and helping out wherever was needed. She always took care of everyone in the neighborhood where her children grew up.
She is survived by her loving children Michael Powell, Gilbert Bernard Powell and Amelia L. Brown of Memphis, TN; sisters Ellen D. Powell Dennie and Vivian Juanita Powell of Memphis, TN; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends; special friends Avis Wilson and Quincy Thomas.
