Obituary for Lestus Paul Smith
Lestus Paul Smith, age 64 of Collierville, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014, at Methodist Hospice Care in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born January 15, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Lestus completed his high school education in 1968, graduating from Sand Flat High School in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. He was employed with Carrier for over thirty-five years, working at their Memphis, Tennessee and Collierville, Tennessee locations.
Lestus was united in holy matrimony to Arleaner Smith on
July 26, 1975, and their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Atia Smith and Shani Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Fifer, Jr.; his mother, Mary Fifer; his sister, Dorothy Slater; his brothers, Leon Fifer, Lindsey Smith, Cleveland Smith, and Roosevelt Smith; and his biological father, Roan Smith.
Lestus Smith leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Jean Cast, Anner Morgan, Bobbie (Henry) Monger of Memphis, Tennessee, Lois (John) Knighton of Marietta, Georgia, Luvenia Turner, Lena Thompson, Dorothy Jackson, and Johnnie Mae Harris; four brothers, Richard Fifer, III of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Lennel (Dorothy) Fifer of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, James (Rose) Fifer of Riverdale, Georgia, John Fifer, and Roan Smith of Memphis, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday September 12, 2014 at Harold Ford Funeral Chapel, 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, TN 38134.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday September 13, 2014 at N. J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home 12 S. Parkway W., Memphis, TN 381069.
