Velton Jet Johnson was born February 2, 1946 in Nesbit, Mississippi to the late Jessie Johnson and Aselee Nunnaley. He departed this life on Thursday September 19, 2019 at Saint Francis Hospital on Park Ave, Memphis, TN. He was married to the late Devonia Phillips-Johnson on September 26, 1966 for 52 years. Preceding him in death are his wife, Devonia Phillips-Johnson; his daughter, Antionette Denise Johnson-Guy; his son, Velton Phillips; his only grandson, Terrence Smith, Jr.; two sisters, Vera Parker Mallory and Aselee Glover; and one brother, Houston Tex Parker.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Shirley Ann Snow (Tracy Scruggs Earnest Snow) and Angela Elaine Johnson Banks (Kenneth Banks); Tony Guy (Late Antionette Denise Johnson Guy); three sisters, Pearlie Crum, Josephine Graham, and Sarah Whitlock; six granddaughters, Melody Robinson (Curtis Robinson), Tabitha Hoey-Phillips, Devonia McCoy (Cedric McCoy), Nakeshia Johnson, Kenya Banks, Angel Banks; and five great-grandkids, Tedarius Johnson, Courdarrius Perkins, Tyler Hoey, Jerimi Fleming and Jerimesia Franklin. He had six sisters-in-law, Genn Phillips, Erma Phillips, Janic Boyd of Memphis, TN, Annie Laura Jones, Virginia Sue Brown of Detroit, MI, Lois Ann Phillips of Montgomery, IL; one brother-in-law, Arthur Philllips; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
