Obituary for Terry Lynn Cowart
1957-2021
On January 11, 2021 at the age of 63 the Lord Jesus called Terry home. Terry was born on September 6, 1957 in Benton, Arkansas. He graduated in 1975 from Glenwood High School in Glenwood, Arkansas. He married his wife, Mary, of 43 years in 1977. They lived in Texas for several years where he was a welder by trade. In 1984 he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served his country until 1993. He was stationed in California, Hawaii and finally Millington Tennessee. After leaving the military the family settled in the Memphis, TN suburb of Bartlett where they still reside. Terry attended and graduated chef school after leaving the military. He did not pursue a culinary career, but his family benefitted greatly from his skills in the kitchen. He then worked as a utility locator for about 13 years. Terry had the opportunity to be a stay-at-home Grandad for about 4 years helping raise their two grandchildren. He later attended and graduated TCAT school in Memphis with a degree in Collision Repair Technology. He was currently working as a Parts Manager for Caliber Collision.
Terry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1980 at Lake of the Pines Baptist Church, a small church in Jefferson, Texas. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Terry enjoyed cooking, reading, listening to music, messing with cars, shooting his pistol at the local range, playing with his great-granddaughter and his pup, Luna. Terry never met a stranger and always had something to say that would make you laugh.
Terry is preceded in death by his sister, Cindy and his father, Kenneth. He is survived by his mother, Jane Cowart; wife, Mary Cowart; daughter, Melissa (Shane) Blalock. He is also survived by a grandson, Hunter (Jeana) Cowart-Burrell; granddaughter, Kayla Blalock; and great-granddaughter, Kylie Burrell who affectionately called him “Pops”.
