Obituary for Sandra Banks
Sandra Banks, 61, died June 26, 2019.
Sandra Louis Quarles Banks was born August 21, 1957 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Katherine Quarles in Memphis, TN. She was the youngest of three daughters. Sandra accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with Galilee A.M.E Church, under the leadership of Rev. Creed Ashurst. She later joined St. Paul M.B. Church, under the leadership of Dr. Samuel H. Herring, Sr. She was a 1975 graduate of Messick High School.
Sandra was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to U. S. Air Force Airman Roscoe Banks on September 27, 1975. Prior to its ending, this union was blessed with three daughters; LeKeisha, Traya, and Arielle. She was employed at Advanced Monographics as a screen-printer. Later she found employment at Hertz Car Rental as a Return Clerk. Due to failing health she was compelled to end employment with Hertz, which gave her more time to assist her daughters, other family, and friends, and to dote on her grandchildren. On June 26, 2019, surrounded by family and friends, her spirit reunited with those of her parents, step-father, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters; LeKeisha Banks, Traya (Travis) Thompson, and Arielle Banks; honorary daughter, Kendra Littlejohn; god-daughter, Nakeisha Nolen; god-sons, Eric Watson, Kevin Chase, and Christopher Edwards; sisters, Linda Quarles Shaw, Jackie (Rufus) Jefferson, and sister/cousin, Sonya Burrow Hardy; grandsons, Takarus Fason II, KeiShawn Fason, Travis Thompson, Braylon Smith; granddaughter, Eren Talley; beloved nephew-cousin, Terrance Campbell; three children she loved as grandchildren, Chavon Littlejohn, Kelcey and Caleb Bowser; Duvell Smith, who she loved as a son; devoted friend and neighbor, Shirley Williams; childhood friends, Margaret Thomas and Rose Slaughter; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
