Robert Anthony Brownlee, affectionately known as Rob, was born on March 10, 1964, in Memphis, Tennessee, the fourth child born to Theodore and Jane Evelyn Brownlee. He professed a hope in Christ early at Cane Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Robert was known as a gentle giant, a maestro of his craft. As a young boy, he showed interest in playing the piano. He trained himself by ear and later learned how to read music. Robert had been known to write poetry and play football, but playing the piano/organ was how many knew him. Like his mother, you could find Robert playing the organ and singing on any Sunday morning at church. Robert was the organist for his home church for over two decades. He has played for New Little Rock Baptist Church for the past few years.
Robert attended Dunn Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and Hamilton High School, Class of 1982. In high school, Rob was a member of the high school marching band, playing the trombone. He also had the opportunity to play tackle, wearing the #77 for the football team. After graduating high school, Robert studied Music at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, for two years. He was a member of an organization called the Wisconsin Sleepers, dedicated to bringing awareness to African-American culture through community service.
August 19, 2022, Robert was summoned to a place far better than this. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, two aunts, and an uncle and is joined in eternal life by the recent death of his brother Jarvis. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Denise Jones (Doug) of Hernando, Mississippi, and Jocelyn of Memphis; four brothers: Keith of St. Louis, Missouri, Samuel of Memphis, David (Annette) of Memphis, and John (Emilie) of Memphis. His nephews; Elias, Christopher, John, Karl, and Jonathan, an honorary nephew Harvey Rogers and two nieces: Samantha and Jasmine. He leaves great-nieces and great-nephews; an aunt, Anita Hunter of Memphis, an uncle, John Gibson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two special cousins, Marsha Mickens and Carolyn Thomas, and many more relatives
He also leaves behind a special loved one, Quintilla Glover.
