Melvin Juanita Lewis, 90, died November 13, 2019.
Melvin Juanita Lewis was born on August 8, 1929 in Moscow Tennessee, to the late William and Winnie Mae Lewis. She is the oldest of three children born to this union. She departed her life on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Lewis was a homemaker and cherished her family relationships. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and attended church until her health began to decline. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosie Lee Reliford and Annie Nois Lewis and her son Lee A. Payne.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, Ms. Lewis, worked as a housekeeper at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee for over 15 years. She enjoyed the opportunity to meet people from all over the world at the hotel. She full of life and words of wisdom to all those she met.
Ms. Lewis is the mother of six children and leaves five to cherish her memories: Charles Payne (Marie), Larry Jones, Lloyd Duncan (Patricia), Grealing Duncan and Leslie Duncan. She has 11 grandchildren and over 10 great grandchildren, living in Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL and Augusta, GA.
