Lula Mae Hayslett, 90, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on March 4, 2021. Lula was born in Macon, Tennessee, September 5, 1930 to the late Mr. Roy and Allie Mae Evans. Lula’s husband, Tommy Hayslett “Tip” preceded her in death on June 4, 2020 after seventy-three years of marriage. She was a faithful member of Zion Temple (C.O.G.I.C.). For many years as a member at Zion Temple, she served on the Mother board, former President of the usher board and member of the Christian Women’s Council (C.W.C.) Lula loved helping and providing for others, family gatherings, preparing meals and talking on the telephone to her sisters and brothers. Lula retired April 15, 1993 from St. Joseph/St. Francis Hospital as Supervisor in the Food Services Division which she served over 30 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, eight children; William (Vicki), Clyde (Erma), Earnestine (Ron), Tommy Jr., Alonzo (Lisa), Helen (Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Jordan), Norma (Tarik); Velma, two sisters; Doris Jones and Elsie B. Jackson; two brothers; Robert Evans and Naroy Evans; two sister-in-laws; Catherine Hayslett and Rose Hayslett; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Valerie and Travis; and one great-grandchild, Amiri. Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, Tn. A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 13, 2021, at Zion Temple (C.O.G.I.C.) 2935 Sam Cooper Blvd, Memphis, Tn. (Due to Covid, limit attendance is required).
