Obituary for Lawrence Hayes, Sr.
Lawrence Hayes, Sr., 79, passed away March 16, 2021.
Mr. Lawrence Henderson Hayes, Sr. was born May 15, 1941 in Arlington, Tennessee to the union of the late Millus H. ‘BILL’,III and Mable Cain Hayes. He accepted Christ at an early age at Belmont Baptist Church.
Lawrence attended and graduated from Barrett’s Chapel High School in 1960. Over the course of his life, he acquired multiple specialized skills, including his last assignment of thirty-one years at Dow Corning, now Wright Medical in Arlington, TN.
In 1972, he united in holy matrimony with wife, Rose Mary Maclin. In this union he nurtured, loved, and poured into his son, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
During the early years of his life, he was very active in softball, baseball, and basketball were he acquired the nick name “BIG L”. Later in his life and after retirement, Lawrence loved to read the paper, watch and talk sports, and spend time with and hold extensive conversations with family and friends.
On March 16, 2021, in the comfort of his home, Lawrence made his transition. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Millus and Mable Hayes; Brother: Robert Hayes; Grandsons: Orinthal J Chambers and Demundre’ Hayes; and Great - Grandson: Carlos McCarley.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Rose Mary Hayes, his Children: Mable Hayes, June Hayes, Lawrence H. Hayes, Jr (Treach), Zennia Hayes, Johnnia Shields (Michael), Mallory Richmond and 3 Step- daughters; Carolyn Malone, Dorothy Tisdale, Catholic Finley (Glen) all of Memphis, TN; his Siblings: James Hayes, Claudia Spann, Madeline Sallis, Frank Hayes, Zennia Adams, Pastor Joe E. Hayes (Bobbie0 , Carl Hayes, Pastor Charles Hayes (Carolyn), Omega Hayes Baker, and Anthony Hayes; sixteen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, special cousin Michael Jones, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousin, friends, and neighbors.
