Larry Donald Slaughter Sr., age 70, died April 4, 2021.

Mr. Larry D. Slaughter, Sr. (a.k.a. Newk), was born September 11, 1950, in Tunica, MS, to Washington and Fannie Mae Slaughter. He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Jones at New Nonconnah M.B. Church.
Larry graduated from Geeter High School, class of 1968. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Gwen Hardaway. He dedicated his life to being an amazing husband, a superb father, an awesome grandfather, and an extraordinary great-grandfather. He was well loved by his family.
After working a few jobs, Larry made home with the Shelby County Sherriff’s Office, where he dedicated 30 years of service. He retired in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Washington and Fannie Mae, his brothers, Theodore (Ted), Willis (Clyde), Robert (Bob), and Harry; his sisters Olivia, Ann, and Gwendolyn; his niece, Brenda; and can’t forget his Foo Foo, Jennifer Nicole.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Gwen; his children, Larry (Danny), Khorri, Kirsten, and Pagan (Ricardo); his grandchildren, Larneshia, Nicholas, Kheveon, Kiriyiel, Kamaya, Khamari, Cordarious, Khylen, and Kaelyn; his great-grandchildren, Lezavion, Jarrod, Jarell, and Kelsi; his sisters Marie, Louise, and Johnnie; his brothers, Cornelius and Darnell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
