Obituary for Joyce Jones-McNeil
Joyce Ann Jones-McNeil soul went to rest on August 26, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ. She called Arizona home in 2016. Mama was born in Madison, Arkansas to Henry Clark and Alene Jones. Her mother passed away when she was only four years old. She was then raised by her father. When she became a young lady, she had her first son Jermone Jones. Things got a little tough so she moved her and (Boo) to St. Louis with family. As, mama evolved in St. Louis and was very much a woman at this point she had one daughter Jamila Lawry (Jones) and four years later she had me Jasmeen Harrell (Jones). Long story short lol, Mama moved to Memphis, TN and then her journey began. In the late 80’s early 90’s she found a church that grew a love for. So, she joined New Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Frank E Ray. Mama always worked two jobs to provide for her children and never gave up her faith. She eventually met her late husband Sgt. Martin McNeil Jr in 1985/86. They married in 1996 and was married until she became a widow in 2005. Mama started working at Walmart as a part time associate and ended up as a member of management until retiring after 23 years. Store #1248 and #5196 associates were family to her. She lived a GREAT life.

She leaves to cherish her memories. Sisters, Leatha Defrance, Faye Wiggins, Frances Ajai, Debra Jones, and Angela Jones. Brothers, Henry Clark, Jerold Jefferson, and Jerold Jefferson. Children, Jermone Jones SR, Lamont & Laquencia McNeil, and Jasmeen & Silas Harrell. Grandchildren, Maleka Jones Jermaane Jones, Jermone Jones Jr., Naiyla Jones, Miyka’EL Jones, Yufi’EL Jones, Jamir Jones, Ishma’EL Jones, Ja’keh Harris, Jaiylah Jones, Ja’Nae Jones, D’Monte McNeil, and Daija McNeil.
