He departed this life on Friday, September 19, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Germantown High School and LeMoyne Owen College. After graduating from college, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work with the FBI. He returned to Memphis, TN and started working in the security business. He was employed with Imperial Guard Service, Memphis Police Reserve. He achieved his dream of starting a lawn care business. John was a very generous and hardworking man.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three sisters, Marian E. Reid, Rachel L. Barnes, and Norma (Alan) Edingbourgh; two brothers, Bennie R. Johnson, and Larry (Carla) Johnson; one great-aunt, eight aunts, eight uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and one special friend, Gwen Boykins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Harold Ford Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Zion Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 7180 Dexter Rd., Cordova, TN 38018. Burial in Memphis Memory Gardens.
