Joe Louis Price Sr., 81, died December 9, 2020.
A Celebration of Life ForJoe Louis Price Sr. Born into Life: July 23, 1939 Joe Louis Price Sr aka Pops, Daddy, Granddaddy, Brother, Uncle, and friend was born on July 23, 1939. He grew up in Fayette County and attended Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as His Saviour at an early age and became a man of faith and love who prayed daily. Joe always shared fond memories of growing up on Harold’s Bottom where he loved to fish, hunt and swim. After graduating high school, Joe moved to Los Angeles, California where he was blessed to get a job working at the UCLA University where he became friends with Kareem Abdul Jabar. He also worked at Hughes Aircraft, Western Gear Corporation and he owned for a time his own janitorial business. Joe was united in Marriage to his wife Helen, They helped raise a blended family of eight children that now includes Rodney, Anthony, Joe Jr, Vincent, Lisa, Don, Joy and Amber. Joe dearly loved all his family. His family and so many people also love him. His kindness and generosity touched lives internationally. Joe loved sports. The San Francisco 49’ers was his favorite football team, the Lakers, his favorite basketball team and the Dodgers his favorite baseball team. He really liked old western movies especially those starring Randolph Scott, and Audie Murphy. He liked old Tarzan movies, especially ones with Johnny Weissmuller. Also, he liked all the Shaft movies, and the movie Claudine was one of his very favorites. Joe liked to stay updated to what was going on in the world and was an avid watcher of CNN and MSNBC. He was also especially fond of his friendship with the Jackson Five. His family who cherishes him dearly includes his wife , his mother in law, his daughters, his sons, his sisters, his brother, all of his brothers and sisters in law, all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
