James Parker Jr. was born on February 21, 1943 in Deeson, Mississippi to the late parents of Leola and James Parker Sr. He was the oldest boy of four siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and oldest sister, Charlie Mae Stone. He attended school in Los Angeles, California. His aunt impacted his life greatly. He united with the New Jerusalem Foursquare Church.
He departed this life on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 8:10 a.m., forsaking this world to travel to the next.
James was a caring and dependable man. He was a great provider for his family and made sure they never lacked the basic necessities of life. He taught his children valuable life lessons which have guided them throughout life. He was an outgoing man who always gave solicited common sense advice to his children. Well-loved by his grandchildren, they affectionately referred to him as “Granddaddy.”
He was employed for several years at Yellow Cab Company in Los Angeles, California, Lead Chef of Central Plaza Hotel, and bus driver of Laidlaw buses of Los Angeles County Schools. James' final career before retiring was in-home care for adults.
He leaves to cherish his memories: 3 sons, James Parker III of Long Beach, California, Dewayne Parker of Los Angeles, California and Terrill Parker of Lancaster, California; 2 daughters, Mewzette Parker of Los Angeles, California and Tysheliamie Parker of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 sister, Idella Parker of Lake Forest, California; 1 brother, Matthew L. Robinson of Long Beach, California; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
