Mr. Isiah Banks was born on March 23, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Robert C. Banks and Bertha M. Banks. Isiah's siblings, Mary Anne Jean Banks, Robinson Banks, and Sherrel Renett Banks preceded him in death.
Isiah was educated at Carnes Elementary in the Tennessee Public School System. Although he was challenged by an intellectual disability, Isiah never forgot a name or person. He was affectionately known by the family as Ike, Big Baby, or Ikey. He was a gentle giant with a big heart. Isiah was well known in the Washington Bottom area. Isiah loved food, being outside, listening to music, and traveling. Brother Isiah was a life-long member of the Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church. He served and sang joyously in both, the Mass Choir and Men's Choir. He looked forward to attending Bible study, Sunday school, and worship services. Brother Isiah loved people, especially his siblings. Isiah departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2021.
He leaves to mourn his passing: three sisters, Hazel M. Sample (Sylvester) of Arlington, TN; Jennifer Lee Wilkinson (Gayle) of St Louis, MO; Brenda Joyce Griffin of Chicago, IL; and one brother, James E. Banks of Hickory Hills, IL. He leaves to cherish his memory: two uncles, John Banks of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Rev. R. U. Banks (Queen E.) of Memphis, TN; one aunt: Mrs. Julia Watson of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and childhood friend, Clyde Norton. Isiah was preceded in death by grand-parents Richmond and Weedie Banks, and Robert and Hazel Caraway.
