Henry Louis “Hank” Settle transitioned from this life on February 19, 2024, after a brief illness at home. He was surrounded by his devoted family.
Henry Louis was born September 2, 1942, to the late B.R. and Fannie Settle in Memphis, TN. He was the youngest of five children born from this union. He was an artistic and curious child.
He graduated from Manassas High School Class of 1960 in Memphis, TN. He served in the US Marine Corps. He was a car enthusiast, owning many cars throughout his life. He was a lover of art, music, and books.
In March 1969, he married Patricia Lewis. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. From this union, they had four children.
In the 70s, he attended a camera repair school in Colorado and later returned to Memphis. He was an entrepreneur owning a TV and small electronics repair business in the 80s and 90s.
Family meant everything to Hen. He taught his children how to play tennis and taught them many lifelong lessons. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Hen” by his nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He was a friend to many. He was Uber before Uber existed, as he provided rides to folks when needed. If you needed someone to fix or build something, he was the man you called. It might take a few hours, but he was coming.
Hank never met a stranger because he would converse with those he encountered along his path. He was an excellent storyteller who skillfully intertwined humor with wisdom. While his stories would make you laugh, they would also teach you a lesson about being kind and doing right by people. He was honest and direct with those he encountered, which made many drawn to him.
He loved and was well-loved by many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
