Obituary for Gabriel Ivan Monske
Gabriel I. Monske, 28, passed away February 10, 2018. Gabriel was a White Station High School graduate and in his final semester as a Senior at the University of Memphis. Gabriel leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Christine; sister, Alexis; niece, Layla; aunt, Corinne; two canine Cocker Spaniel brothers, Berkeley and Ely whom he hand selected at the kennel and loved very much; several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio; and friends from around the world.
Born in Kotovo Russia, he came to Memphis with his sister in July 1999. He returned to Russia for four years where he again became fluent in his native Russian language. He was an English tutored and teacher in Russia prior to returning to Memphis in April 2015 where he immediately resumed studies at the U of M. He made many friends while in Russia including a filmmaker who is currently working on a documentary of his life.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, from 2 -3 p.m.; a Celebration of Life service will be 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Road, Memphis, TN 38134. Family request no flowers and to wear tasteful, colorful clothes to his visitation and celebration. Gabriel loved all animals and any memorials are requested to be sent to Mid-South Cocker Spaniel Rescue, 4728 Spottswood Ave. Box. 300, Memphis, TN 38117 or Cherished Cockers Rescue, 8216 Rushton Dr. Mentor, OH 44060.
