Obituary for Fay D. Lee
Fay D. Lee, 76, died December 16, 2015.
Fay Davis Lee was born on July 27, 1939 to Caleb and Reola Davis. She departed this life on December 16, 2015
Fay was a proud graduate of Melrose High School, Tenessee State University, and Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis). At Tennessee State, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and was a devoted and Lifetime member. At the time of her death she was a member of the sorority's Beta Epsilon Omega Chapter.
Fay believed in the power of education and its ability to change lives. This belief led her to become an educator. Professionally she began her career in 1962 as a teacher at Locke Elementary School. She advanced and became an Assistant and, ultimately, Principal of Georgia Avenue Elementary School. She ended her career as Principal of South Park Elementary School. During her tenure, Fay mentored numerous young teachers and nurtured many children.
Fay's faith was also an integral part of her life. As a longtime active member of Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church, Fay wore many hats during her faith journey--Sunday school teacher, Elder, Bible Study Leader, and Women's Ministry member. This journey also led Fay to volunteer and contribute regularly to organizations serving others, especially children.
Fay cherished "family". She is survived by her daughter: Sharon Lee, son: Shea Lee (Angela), grandaughters: Shania and Shelby Lee, special friend and ex-husband: James Lee, sister: Dr. Cheryl Jones (Fred) and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends that filled her life with love, joy, and laughter.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, December 23rd 2015, 11:00 AM at Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church, 1005 E Shelby Dr, Memphis, TN 38116 with a Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Ivy Beyond The Wall Service at 10:30 A.M.
