Clarence Harris Thornton was born September 1, 1921 in Moscow, TN to the late Mary Harris Thornton. He departed his life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Methodist University Hospital.
He confessed a true conversion in Christ at an early age at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow, TN. He served there faithfully until his health failed.
On April 14, 1946, Clarence was united in holy Matrimony to the late Keil Robinson. To this union they were blessed with one son, Clarence Harris, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his wife Keil Robinson Harris, two sisters Eather Hamlett & Parthena Mae Jackson and his great grand-daughter Erion Boyland.
Clarence was a man that loved to work. He was employed by various companies which include Memphis Light Gas & Water for about 20 years, Frisco Railroad Company, and Keatlings Bakery until he retired. He also had a passion for beautifying our city. By doing this he launched his own environmental landscaping company and worked with many homes within The Chickasaw Gardens Subdivision in Memphis, TN.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and singing.
He leaves to cherish his memories one son Clarence Harris, Jr. (Jerrian) of Memphis, Tn. Three grand-daughters; Melenni Harris, Cynthia Boyland (Eric) and Sarah Harris all of Memphis, TN. Two great-grandchildren Erin Boyland and Arial Boyland. Two special cousins that where like his brothers Andro Wright and Clinton Hammond and a host great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, 170 Thompson Drive, Moscow, TN.
