Charlie Scott Parrish was born December 12, 1942, to Johnny B. Parrish, Sr. and Viola Robinson Parrish in Memphis, Tennessee.
Charlie entered Douglass High School in 1957, where he excelled in football as a quarterback. In 1959, he was named a WDIA Gridiron Great and was the team captain. He graduated with the Class of 1960.
He was joined in marriage to Emma Jean Ware in 1979. His parents, four brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his memory his wife of 44 years, Emma Jean Ware Parrish; five daughters, Comalisa Sallie-Parrish, Cassandra Gail Gardner, Tina L. Pilgrim (David Pilgrim, Sr.), Toni K. Stanford, and Erika D. Parrish; five grandchildren, LaSaundra Young (Darius Young), Rakeasha Gillispie, Terrence J. Stanford, Nemiah Pilgrim, and Jaime Pilgrim; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; mother-in-law, Mary Ware; sisters-in-law Sonja and Edena Ware; brothers-in-law, Frank Ware and Jonathan Rance; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a grand dog, Brooklyn.
