Obituary for Beverly Jane Phillips
Beverly Jane Phillips, 70, died January 15, 2020.
Beverly Jane Phillips was born on March 9, 1949 to Arthur and Versia Phillips. She was half of their first set of twins. She was only a few minutes older than her sister, Barbara. She graduated from Barrett’s Chapel in 1966 and went on to work at AHCH in downtown Memphis. She eventually went on to work at People’s Bank, which later became Trustmark, where she was employed for over 30 years, She finally moved to bank of Bartlett from where she retired in 2008.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Bush Grove Baptist church. She was a member and worked in the finance department at the church. Because of her outpouring of love, she had many children that called her “Mama”. This also happened when her daughter became a member of Highpoint and the young members began to meet her. She became their “G-Mama”.
Beverly leaves behind her daughter, Amie Phillips; her twin sister, Barbara Oldham; three brothers, Karl Phillips, Keith Phillips and Ronald Phillips (Nora); two grandsons, Christion and Xavier Phillips; two nephews, Kevin Anderson and Walter Anderson, Jr.; four nieces, Beverly Tracie Oldham (Namesake), Sonya Macklin, Teresa Macklin and Joliner Macklin. She also leaves behind great-nieces and nephews and “adopted” grandchildren that she showed nothing but unconditional love to. Beverly also leaves behind her godchildren, Danielle and Darrion Stigger, whom she loved as if they were her own.
